Congratulations Student Poster Prize Winners

22 February 2014

Three prizes were awarded for the best student posters at the Lorne Infection and Immunity Conference, 19-21 February 2014. The annual event is co-hosted by the Victorian Infection and Immunity Network (VIIN) and the Queensland based Australian Infectious Diseases Research Centre (AID). This year saw a record number of posters presented with the winners selected from a field of 70 other students. The winners (in no particular order) were:

Sarah Charnaud, Burnet Institute (pictured below, presenting her poster)
Why does Plasmodium falciparum malaria have an extra exported Hsp70 chaperone compared to other species?

Andrew Turner, University of Queensland
Manganese - Friend or Foe?

Chien-Hsiung Yu, University of Queensland - Diamantina Institute
The Toll-like receptor RP105 promotes TNF trafficking in macrophages via PI3Kδ signalling during mycobacterial infection

4 - Unnamed

Prizes were provided by the VIIN and by the International Journal of Parasitology. Special thanks should go to the 20 poster judges it took to judge all of the posters in duplicate – it is never an easy task!
